Close Web Viewer browser window without warnings

Postby Typhoon Software » Tue Nov 07, 2006 11:37 pm

You may want to add a link or button to your web page to close the window. Unless the window was opened with Javascript, IE will give a warning message asking if you really want to close the window. AutoRun can hide this message and silently close the browser window.

AutoRun has also been updated (http://www.typhoonsoftware.com/download.htm -- Version 3.1.9 Nov 07/2006) recently to handle these events in the new IE7.

Below is a sample web page with the links you would need to silently close the browser window:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Silent Close Options for Web Viewer</TITLE>

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="Javascript">
<!--
function CloseWindow()
{
document.location.href = "window.close()";
}
// -->
</SCRIPT>

</HEAD>
<BODY>
<CENTER>

<P><A HREF="window.close()">Close with Link</A></P>

<FORM>
<INPUT TYPE="BUTTON" NAME="SUBMIT" VALUE="Close with Button" OnClick="CloseWindow()">
</FORM>

</CENTER>
</BODY>
</HTML>
